<image:title>Blog - Who is the book for? - When I pitched the book idea, people asked who I expected would read it. “Anyone who cares about the future of humanity!” I answered boldly. Slow nods. hmmms…. “I think you’re going to need to narrow that down. Do you have specific job roles in mind?” I was asked a similar question when I started my business in 2021. Who was my business designed to help? What was the ‘avatar’ of my ideal client?</image:title>

<image:title>Blog - When is an illusion not an illusion? - I’m going to invite you back to 2014, when I was in a meeting with colleagues at the end of a very long day.</image:title>
<image:caption>We were a mixed group of people from different organisations receiving a verbal briefing. Part of the briefing covered what kind of aircraft were expected to operate in this region of the world. My military colleagues read their briefing notes aloud. Faces in the room appeared to have a shared expression - ‘How was this possible?’ The presenters took each question at face value - ‘Have we seen this done before?’ - yes, for decades ‘Do we have a similar capability?’ - yes, absolutely The room looked astounded. The presenters, baffled.</image:caption>

<image:title>Blog - What a hangar, innovation and a clinical couch all have in common - My career has taken me from RAF hangars in Afghanistan to clinical consulting rooms, innovation and conversations about technology and organisational change. At first glance, those worlds may appear to have very little in common.</image:title>
<image:caption>But each one taught me something about how people respond when the stakes are high, and uncertainty is present. In the military, I saw what helps people act under pressure. In business, I saw how organisations wrestle with change, power and performance. Through psychoanalytic training, I learnt to pay attention to what lies beneath the apparently rational story. Mind Your Self brings those worlds together to explore what leadership demands in the age of AI.</image:caption>

<image:title>Blog - When Someone Understands Exactly Why You Wrote the Book</image:title>
<image:caption>The Danish Infantry asked me to support a complex mission, which led to me briefing the Commander of Task Force Helmand. Outside the room, a handful of Colonels and Majors were waiting, half‑expecting they’d need to step in if things went sideways. Ten minutes later, I walked out with approval and disbelief. The Brigadier had said, “I’m very confident with you in charge.” Reading that email, and the pride I had written home with, I can see it was a turning point. The shift from the mindset of an apprentice to someone who could think creatively, act decisively, and trust her own judgment.</image:caption>

<image:title>Blog - The Execution Gap: the distance between knowing what to do and being able to do it - In my initial military training, I learned to slowly manoeuvre down a rope instead of sliding. Except I didn’t.</image:title>
<image:caption>I could say word for word what I had to do, but couldn’t act on the knowledge. I got to the edge of the platform, took a deep breath, and grabbed the rope. As I wrapped my one leg around the rope and raised my other leg from the platform, I knew instantly that I was going to fall. I slid, feeling the intensity of the rope burn on the palms of my hands as I tried to slow my descent. But I knew what to do - why was there a gap between my knowledge and acting on it? In the space between knowing and doing, your body produces a mix of physical sensations, primary emotions, and hormones that rush to the brain and combine into memory-based thoughts.</image:caption>

<image:title>Blog - Why I wrote Mind Your Self - We stand at the edge of an AI revolution that will transform how we live and work, but without deliberate choice, it could erode our capacity for nuance, relationship, and courage.</image:title>
<image:caption>In 2024, I was several years into training as a Jungian psychoanalytic therapist. Listening to those seeking help, I began to reflect on my own experience of difficulty. Difficulty is liminal; it holds potential. You will be transformed by the experience, but how you transform is influenced by those around you, your environment, your sense of self - a dynamic process. But I noticed something shift for patients in 2024. Generative AI was now widely available, and people were starting to pour their hearts into it. Perhaps to avoid discomfort? Shame? The pain of not knowing? Of waiting? Perhaps because of accessibility, or because a societal system encouraged the individual over community? I noticed a subtle change in those who were using it to process their feelings.</image:caption>
